I Choose Wisdom

Apply God's Word every day through personalized declarations from the book of Proverbs. By speaking God's truth OUT LOUD, you'll be empowered and strengthened to fight your spiritual battles as Jesus did - using the Word of God.

WHY would we do this? Proverbs tells us...

Wisdom is protection (4:6)
Wisdom is healing (12:18)
Wisdom blesses us (3:13)
Wisdom gives long life (3:16)
Wisdom gives confident trust (1:33)
Wisdom is good judgment (1:4)
Wisdom guards us on the path (2:8)
Wisdom keeps us from evil (2:12)
Wisdom restores order (29:8)
Wisdom is a shield (30:5)

Proverbs also gives us word pictures as to what wisdom is like: a tree of life, more precious than rubies, better than silver or gold, a bubbling fountain, pleasant like honey, a gold crown...and so much more (you'll see!).

Is this Biblical?

It's in fact encouraged! Proverbs 22:17-19 says...

"Listen carefully and hear the words of the wise, and apply your mind to my knowledge; For it will be pleasant if you keep them in mind [incorporating them as guiding principles]; Let them be ready on your lips [to guide and strengthen yourself and others] So that your trust and reliance and confidence may be in the Lord." [AMP]

Declare these OUT LOUD - it will strengthen you and weaken the enemy.

I encourage you to begin your day declaring one aloud - you'll notice your spirit lift! #WorthIt!

The Power of the Tongue

The words we say are powerful.

People can feel good when they hear encouraging words, and discouraged when they hear harsh words.

But more than that, Proverbs 18:21 says...

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it and indulge in it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words."

I don't know about you, but I choose life!

Helpful tip: make it fun. If you're doing this with others in your home, see if they're up for the challenge of being "surprise-quizzed" during the day.

While the goal is to store God's word in your heart, the process - making it a daily habit - is the true goal! Ponder a nugget of wisdom throughout the day. There's plenty to choose from!

Proverbs 16:16 tells us, "How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver."

Who is this FOR...and NOT FOR?

This is FOR people who want to memorize and make personalized declarations with God's Word. It's also a great way to get your kids involved in making a daily habit and choosing wisdom!

This is NOT FOR people who think this replaces reading your Bible. This is an optional, but beneficial, addition to however else you're spiritually feeding yourself. Like a delicious morsel of chocolate. It doesn't replace a day's worth of meals, but it's nice not to skip it!

What version of the Bible do you use?

The quoted Bible verses are taken from the Amplified version. More versions may be available in the future.

Who ARE you, and why are you doing this?

My name is Lea Jacobson. I first started I Choose...Wisdom a dozen years ago when my kids were little, as part of our homeschool day. I would have my kids (then seven and three) repeat the "I Choose..." after me. I would look for opportunities during the day to use it in context, and I'd challenge them to see if they remembered it at lunchtime. Some days they'd remember it allllll the way to bedtime.

Now that my kids are older, I need this for me. I love studying the Bible, working through Bible studies with my friends, and...I need daily reminders and daily declarations of truth as a weapon against the enemy.
